About the O.Y.O
The Ordo Yule Orphic
(O.Y.O) is an Anonymous
Gift-Giving
Society.
We hide
Treasures in the spaces between.
There is no membership of O.Y.O —
only Participation.
O.Y.O represents a natural expansion of Geocaching to encompass a broader range of experiences beyond simple discovery.
TL;DR
The O.Y.O is a system for creating, propagating and
documenting new ritual forms.
We share blueprints for these rituals in the form of written scenarios in which strangers are the
participanants.
The O.Y.O systemizes a universal human behavior (leaving something behind/arranging a place in the world
to invite meaningful action) in an attempt to unlock its full potential.
Little Free Library
"A container is left on a public road where it may be easily found. Take a book from this library and
then leave your own."
-Pre-O.Y.O, unwritten/emergent
Pet Tree
"Somewhere quiet and concealed, there is a small, dead tree. Nearby this tree, there is a journal
stashed within a glass container.
Approach this tree as the sun sets and affix a name tag from an animal
companion you have lost. Inside of the hidden journal, write a fond memory of this companion.
-O.Y.O (T.C)
These are purposefully simple examples, there is no upper limit to the complexity of these rituals
or the number of people who may participate in them.
When multiple participants are involved, they often act independently on unique sets of directions. The
only limits exist in your imagination.
The O.Y.O website functions as an archival structure for documenting these rituals and hosting the
artistic works that emerge from them.
Anyone may submit their own
ritual conceptions at any time, and one ritual may have any number of variants and
iterations.
We invite you to look out into the world and give yourself freely to dreaming.
Even if you have no interest in this, you probably know somebody who might, especially if they are a Musician.
Within the O.Y.O, these blueprints for novel Ritual forms
embedded within the Wider World are known as Collective
Rituals.
List of Collective Rituals
The Environments where Collective Rituals take form are
known as Dispersals.
1/2
The ancestor of the O.Y.O Dispersal is the
Public Ritual.
You have most likely interacted with many Public Rituals which are similar to
O.Y.O Collective Rituals over the course of your
life.
If you know what to look for, you will begin to see them everywhere. Familiar examples include...
Wishing wells, little free libraries, roadside memorials, commemorative benches, hotel
ledgers/guestbooks, Geocaches, love locks, note walls, sticker clusters, grafitti, community boards,
neighborhood gardens, tip jars, religious shrines, free
boxes, sites of pilgrimage, ARGs, public instruments, chalk left on the sidewalk, community art swaps, painted
rocks, the blarney stone, seed exchanges, smoothed statues ...
…and countless others.
Public Rituals such as these typically arise spontaneously. They often operate off of
unwritten rules, and these rules are almost
always very simple.
This simplicity is borne of necessity. If the purpose of a Public Ritual is too
obscure, it vanishes and dies. If nobody knew what a wishing well was, we would only see fountains.
This makes it difficult for novel Public Ritual forms to establish themselves.
Our solution to this is the Collective Ritual. Each one is a reproducable
Ritual schematic which may be interprited, manifested and re-imagined in an infinite
variety of ways, much like a piece of music.
The O.Y.O harnesses the power of the Public Ritual by
giving it structure.
We are an engine for the conception and propagation of
unique Ritual forms.
Collective Rituals such as the Pet Tree example are interpreted by Participants and manifested in the Wider World as Dispersals.
Afterward, their locations are marked on our Map. Seeking out these Dispersals can
create an experience like a sort of Ritual Geocaching.
"Bury coins here."
(Collective Ritual: Coin Burial
Dispersal: Solar Treasures)
Each Dispersal has its own set of Directions interwoven with the Collective Ritual that it is based upon.
These Directions are specific to the Environment(s) the Dispersal manifests itself within and the intentions of the Participant manifesting it.
These Directions are displayed with quotations of the Collective Ritual text on
each
Dispersal's ledger page. They may also be present upon objects located at Dispersals.

Pet Tree #1
"Somewhere quiet and
concealed, there is a small, dead tree.
Nearby this tree, there is a journal stashed within a glass container."
"Approach the tree as the sun sets and affix a name tag from an animal
companion you have lost.
Inside the journal, a fond memory of your companion is recorded."

A Dispersal's Directions may contain absolutely anything (within reason) so long as
the narrative beats of the
Collective Ritual may still be felt. Directions can be widly divergent.
The Collective Ritual may be thought of as a dream and the Dispersal is this dream spilling over into reality. We invite you to look out upon the world and imagine what strange events and processes could unfold within it.
Within our framework, there are 4 Levels of Collective Ritual/Dispersal.
The examples above are analogous to Level 1 Collective Rituals.
1 Participant per enactment, simple Directions, one location.
"Toss a coin into this well and make a wish."
1 Participant per enactment, complex Directions, one or more locations.
"Toss a coin into this well, take a rock near the well home with you and paint it. When you return
with the rock, toss in a more valuable coin. Make a wish for a friend."
2+ Participants per enactment, one or more locations. All Participants share a common
physical space during enactment.
"2 Participants approach the same wishing well on opposite sides. They each toss in a coin and make
contradictory wishes. Results are recorded in a journal hidden nearby."
2+ Participants per enactment, one or more locations. Participants/groups of
Participants
are distributed across great distances during enactment.
"2 participants find 2 wishing wells 100 miles apart (+/- 1 mile). They toss a coin and cast the same
wish at the same time.
Now, these Dispersals wouldn't be much fun if nobody could find
them, would they?
There are 2 main methods of
propagating Dispersals...
• • Secondary Dispersals • •
A Secondary Dispersal is a transcription of a (Primary) Dispersal's Directions and its Collective Ritual hidden in the Wider World.
There may be multiple Primary Dispersals portrayed on a single Secondary Dispersal.
• • Visitations • •
Visitations are ephemeral marks pointing toward anything related to
O.Y.O. They can be:
A symbol on a wall…
A short message written in chalk…
Coordinates on parchment…
Our URL tucked into a book…
A painted stone left under a bridge…
Or anything else that you could possibly think of.
You need only provide a single photograph and a title to Submit a Visitation.
You could easily create a Visitation right now!
Essentially, O.Y.O may be viewed as a vast body of
collective
artistic Works, all inexorably linked through shared
physical
spaces.
Every Participant of O.Y.O is an intimate collaborator. We refer to this communal creative
method as Folding Time.
Participation in O.Y.O
means contributing to an emergent scripture and watching your contributions expand themselves in real time.
The O.Y.O was born 3/3/2026, 3:33 on the edge of Castle Lake, CA. Its Initiation was signalled at the peak of the Blood Moon Eclipse.
Currently, we are still in our infancy.
Create ♥ O.Y.O
The O.Y.O is hosted and curated (primarily) by me, a 23 year old Witch named T.C, and my assistant A.O.
We live nomadically and spend our days travelling the world, spreading the O.Y.O everywhere we happen to find ourselves.
We have dedicated the whole of our lives to the creation of the Ordo Yule Orphic.
If you would like to help Create ❣️ O.Y.O by supporting us, you may join our Patreon.
There is a single tier priced at $1.00 per month.
This grants you access to a growing personal archive of audio, video, writing, scans, coordinates, scores and more.
Most importantly, here you can find all active of O.Y.O. Membership even allows you to Submit your own!
These have the potential to be much more specific and intense than public Dispersals. Participatory discretion is advised.
By supporting this work, you are creating a real life Santa Clause whose life is frozen in a perpetual cycle of nomadic gift giving and sacrificial creation.
If you hear movement through the trees, it might only be the wind. Or it may really be us there, floating through the night, leaving gold for you to discover in the morning.
You were never meant to walk alone.
